Rules

All Austeam Racing General online rules form part of this event as well as the General Online Racing Rules.

All drivers are required to be in their ATR1000 Race Number Com’s channel setup in Guilded.

A Lounge voice channel is available for drivers to join for general chat when not driving or needing to communicate with your co-driver.

Note: All drivers are to have matching names both in Guilded and In-Game for all to recognize in coms, server results, etc.

QUALIFYING Driver is not to start the official race. Teams need to decide who will qualify for the team and will be required to hand the car over to their co-driver before the start of the race. This could be completed at the end of the qualifying session or during the 10min warm up / practice session following qualifying. UNDER REVIEW

Qualifying will be complete on the Sunday prior to the official / Main event,  this may include a Top 10 Shootout directly after and on the same day.

FORMATION LAP all endurance racing will be run with a full formation lap as per ACC race start settings. This will be at the game regulated pace and will require you to remain in your position in readiness for the green flag.

All lap 1 incidents, will be reviewed by the race stewards post race, and will attract a 2 minute penalty to be added at race results, even if position redressing is attempted. We frown upon lap one incidents and expect all drivers to leave enough room between cars. Extra care must be taken when  starting the 1st lap of the race whilst having full tanks, cold tyres, or taking unnecessary risks whilst in close proximity of other cars…. It’s a long race, so try not to be “that” guy……

Using the ESC Function to “Return to Garage” during the Qualifying or Race sessions is prohibited… Pressing ESC to return to garage may only be done during practice, or when retiring (DNF) from the race.

NOTE: Being auto telepitted or having a server disconnection during a race, means you have been declared terminally damaged, or you have been disqualified by other. A server disconnection is treated the same as an immobilizing vehicle fault whilst on track that cannot be driven back to your pit box for repairs. A driver can still “Spectate” from the pits in a “non drive mode”, but if the driver/client was disconnected, they can only rejoin the server via “Spectator Mode” by using the spectator password, this is due to the server being set to “Closed at Race Start” for any new driver/vehicle connections during the race.

Removed for the 2024 Event – Per Driver Stint Time:  1h:05m
This defines the maximum time a driver can stay out without getting a penalty. (The stint time resets at pit lane entry)

Maximum Total Driving Time: 4h:05m
(Total of combined stint time per driver)

GENERAL INFORMATION
Because of the very specific data ACC requires to handle team racing reliably, we need to have your car number, the drivers in the team and the car model set in stone before drivers can connect to the server.

Driver 1 must always enter the server first to be able to claim their allocated vehicle then folowed by Driver 2 there after.

Lapping Etiquette
Because of the nature of endurance racing, lapping is will occur. We request the lapping (passing) car to wait for a response from the lapped car first, the lapped car should continue on the racing line. If the lapped car driver wants to let by a faster car pass on the corner, we recommend it is done by going wide into a turn allowing the passing car to do so through the apex. The safest point to overtake however would be a corner exit followed by a straight and allowing the passing car to go by, by slowly applying the throttle.

Inclement Weather & Night Time Racing
Endurance races are expected to stretch longer time frames, often stretching into the night. As such, turning on your headlamps should the night fall is required and will also be policed by the game. If the driver continues to drive the car with headlamps turned off, the game will automatically issue a “meatball” penalty after 3 laps, disqualifying the car as unfit to race. Auto or Manual options are at the drivers discretion.

If for whatever reason your headlamps are broken while in night time, the game will also automatically advise you to pit for repairs – should you fail to do so, you will be disqualified by the game on the same grounds as not having your headlamps on.

Should rain occur, the drivers are required to turn on both regular lighting and the rain light. It is recommended the rain light be set to Auto in your game settings.

As will always be repeated, if you want to finish first, first you have to finish. Endurance races are at least 3 hours long and as such there is no point in trying to win a race on the first lap, so stay chilled and wait for the opportunities that come along during the race.

Known bugs and solutions

Bug: Virtual mirror disappears after entering the car.
Solution: Cycle through the views using the F1 button.

Bug: After swapping drivers the camera ends up in a different car.
Solution: Hold SHIFT and press left/right arrow keys to cycle views between the cars to cycle back to your vehicle.

Bug: The HUD stint timer shows exaggerated/negative values.
Solution: The bug is only visual, the in-game crew chief will alert you 10 and 5 minutes before your stint ends. The in-car Racelogic display also works properly regardless.

FAQ:
Q: What does “Maximum stint time mean?

A: You have to pit before the time runs out. The timer should be visible on the top left of your HUD. The car’s Racelogic display can also be cycled to show the current stint time on the dashboard.

Q: Why is there a maximum stint time imposed in the first place?
A: Two reasons: The first one is that the real world series has the same rule as well, and the second one is that it regulates driving share times for the team.

Q: One of my mates isn’t going to turn up to the race, what now?
A: You have to notify us beforehand so that we can delete him from the entry list, otherwise your team will get disqualified if one of the drivers doesn’t enter the car at all before the end of the race.

Q: How do I swap drivers?
A: There is an extensive tutorial on both the official ACC forums and the previous endurance race threads. You have to do it using the MFD – cycle to the pit menu, then you have to move the cursor using your up and down buttons and then you can select different drivers using left and right. Don’t have to “confirm” anything, just leave it on the name of the driver you want to switch seats with and pit. After the pit is done he’ll get teleported into the car. The entering driver will need to ensure their view is your team can and has selected the drive option.
